TRIPTYCHS IN VIVO

Origins of the Triptych In Vivo Art Project

From the Victoria and Albert Museum to Triptych Dialogue

The origins of Triptych In Vivo trace back to an early encounter with a triptych at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

Influence of the Museo del Prado Triptych

A later visit to the Museo del Prado in Madrid revealed the narrative and physical power of hinged Flemish triptychs and renewed the conceptual direction of the work.

Constructing Contemporary Triptych Objects

Repurposed Doors as Hinged Art Panels

Discarded doors are cut into three panels and reassembled into contemporary triptychs using repurposed hinges.

Portable Icons and Processional Contemporary Art

Triptychs Designed to Be Carried

Each piece can be set to function as a portable icon, banner, or contemporary santo.

Art Activated Through Movement and Place

The works are carried into outdoor environments and activated through photography, video documentation, and written chronology.

Painting, Sculpture, and Material Hybridity

Between Painting and Object-Based Art

The imagery exists at the intersection of painting, sculpture, and material intervention.

Fragmentation, Texture, and Sensory Surfaces

Embedded fragments, industrial compounds, and layered materials create dense sensory surfaces that shift through movement and light.

Dialogue Transformed Into Physical Form

From Conversation to Material Object

Started in 2025, Triptych In Vivo marks a transition from dialogue as spoken exchange to dialogue embodied in physical form.

Artifact, Action, and Encounter

Each triptych functions as both artifact and action—something carried, opened, and encountered within the world.

Parallel Projects: MACA and Civil Political Dialogue

Triptych In Vivo exists alongside related socially engaged works such as MACA (Make America Civil Again), which explores non-confrontational political conversation through repurposed books, public participation, and active listening.
